PALÄSTINALIED je ena redkih ohranjenih melodij Waltherja von der Vogelweideja (1170-1230). Nastala je ob V. križarski vojni (1212-21). Ohranjena je v Münsterskem fragmentu iz XIV. stoletja. Novo besedilo sem spisal na staro melodijo na sodobne muke.

Quick, ye tourists, to Palestine,

to be cleansed of sins!

Come to Palestine,

to the land of a thousand rocks.

If it was not the breach itself,

there God himself became man,

perhaps God became man.

They crucified Him on the cross,

His limbs nailed to the beam,

They sang hallelujah,

the business made of it.

Now are different times –

death sounds faster,

with a sniper rifle we now scare.

You hear Palestine screaming,

the limp is bloody,

Home becomes foreign,

the pale mother decapitated. A siren roars,

woman are heard begging,

children are heard sighing.

Where are the angels of heaven?

Where are their heavenly trumpets?

Where is the wrath and loathing of men?

Are we left only with the bombs?

It's getting worse to live

when only evil profits,

when only evil is rewarded.

Let life have meaning,

let Palestine see in bliss,

in peace her bloom

and forget the pain.

Let the people sleep peacefully

and the children rejoice,

and the children rejoice.

[1] PALESTINALIED is one of the few surviving melodies by Walther von der Vogelweide (1170-1230). It was composed during the 5th crusade (1212-21). It is preserved in the Muenster fragment from the XIV. I wrote the new text to an old melody about modern agony.

[1] PALÄSTINALIED ist eine der wenigen erhaltenen Melodien von Walther von der Vogelweide (1170-1230). Es entstand während des V. Kreuzzugs (1212-21). Es ist im Münsteraner Fragment aus dem XIV. Jhd. erhalten. Den neuen Text habe ich zur alten Melodie im Hinblick auf die aktuelle Tragödie verfasst.
