The historical drama by Andrei Tarkovsky was filmed in 1966 at the Mosfilm studio. The plot of the picture is dedicated to the life of the icon painter Andrei Rublev. In 1967, the premiere took place - the tape was severely criticized for gloom, excessive naturalism.
The film was recutt, and after a limited release, it was effectively shelved. Subsequently, the picture was recognized as one of the main works of the director and today is included in various ratings of the best films in the history of world cinema.
And now Tarkovsky's tape is available in the original author's intention, with the return of some previously deleted scenes - for film critics and all fans of the director's work.
